In 2013, Kurt Clayson founded Sound Tile & Grout in Washington State. What started as a two-person tile operation grew into Sound Construction Services, a full-service remodeling company running dozens of projects at a time across residential and commercial work.
Over eight years and 3,000+ completed projects, one thing became painfully clear: construction management software was failing contractors. The options were either bare-bones tools that couldn't keep up with a growing company, or bloated enterprise platforms priced for firms doing $100M+ in revenue. Nothing was built for how contractors actually work.
Kurt had a rare combination: 20+ years of software development leadership and real construction experience managing crews, budgets, subs, and clients. So he built Projul. Not as a tech experiment, but as the tool he needed and couldn't find.
